Goonies Sequel?

A New Dawn

After working on my site upgrade for a year, OK most of that time was spent ignoring it but many many hours in any case, The new DienstNet is up and running.  What - It looks the  same you say? Well that's what took so long. I was upgrading the engine that runs the site but the new version broke the template I created using the trial version of Artisteer many years ago. So all the time I spent working on the site was in trying to manually edit the old template to get it to work with the new version and look the same.

Well I finally broke down and gave up and just bought a copy of Artisteer $130 and then recreated the template for the site.  Now at least the pages are showing content. I still have some cosmetic things to work out but it is working enough to go live.

My Favorite Cucumber Salad

Cucumber Salad

2 large cucumbers skinned
1 small onion
1/2 Cup Mayo  (3/4 for creamier)
2 T Dill weed
Salt

Cut cucumbers in half. Slice each half paper thin and layer in a colander that is sitting in a bowl (this is for draining purposes). After each cucumber half is sliced then Salt the layer of cucumbers in the colander. Don't be too shy with the salt most of it will wash away as the moisture is pulled from the cucumber. Do this repeatedly until all the cucumber is sliced. The use of a slicer on it's thinnest setting is recommended.

Next slice the small onion just as thin as the cucumber and place in colander. After the onion is sliced mix the onion and cucumber around in the colander. (Warning this step will create a lot of sulfuric acid that will irritate the eyes.) Let stand covered in the colander for 2 to 4 hours mixing every half hour to help in draining the liquid.

Next, Empty the liquid from the bowl and transfer the mixture from the colander to the bowl and mix in the Dill weed and Mayo.

Cover and chill before serving.

Delicious!
